Sechter, entitled: Die§richtige Folge der Grundharmonien, etc., aims solely to elucidate the formation of harmonic progressions, and to present the means of modulation; leaving untouched, for the present, the subjects of Melody and Counterpoint.§The treatise begins with the discussion of the harmonic progressions in the diatonic major scale. Next is shown the peculiar nature of the diatonic minor scale, and the means of diatonic modulation are pointed out. Hereupon follow, the elucidation of the chromatic progressions, both in the major and minor scales; and lastly, that of the enharmonic changes."
