Heike Monogatari (Illustrated and Annotated Edition)

Heike Monogatari mainly tells the story of the Hei family headed by Hei Kiyomori. The first six volumes describe the prosperity and arrogance and dominance of the Hei family; the second seven books focus on the battle between the two great samurai groups of Genpei, and exaggerate the tragic ending of the final elimination of the Hei family. A considerable number of Chinese classics are cited throughout the book. It was once vividly performed by the Japanese Pipa Master. The author mainly focuses on the two periods of the Heike family (the Heiqing period and the Heizong period), the Baoyuan Rebellion and the Peaceful Rebellion after the rebellion. The whole chapter is mainly based on the chronicle of history books, in which the author has added views on many events, forming a structure with the author's search for the cause of Ping's decline and death as the main clue.
