A young US Marine Sergeant named John Wiley Dickerson, from North Platte, Nebraska is faced with mysteries concocted by his Uncle John. Believing that all he owns is a portrait of his Uncle John, a sea bag full of used clothes, and a new Ford 150 pick-up truck, young Dickerson ultimately realizes the portrait is an encoded map.

A journey to North Platte, Nebraska is followed by another trip to Bellingham, Washington then north to meet, and discover why the portrait of Uncle John presents challenges the former Marines must undoubtingly conquer. What they don't know is the fact they may get killed in the process.
Their final, self-imposed, mission is a surprise to even the drafter of this story.
