Mara Bell never knowingly lied. Her testimony still helped send her mother to prison for murder.

At twenty-two, Mara was certain she understood what happened on the staircase at the Mariner House. She saw Claire raise an arm. She saw Sylvia Dane pitch forward. And when Mara said her mother had pushed Sylvia, the other witness accounts seemed to reinforce the same conclusion.

Nearly seven years later, the original evidence is examined again-and Claire was never close enough to make the push.

The conviction begins to collapse. For Mara, that should be the end of the nightmare. Instead, it forces her back into the few seconds that changed both their lives.
