Nadia Mercer's younger brother has been missing for eleven days when she receives a recording in his voice.

Then Evan comes home.
He remembers a childhood conversation that never happened. He has forgotten something Nadia knows he could never have forgotten. And when she watches him from across the room, she sees a second shadow move behind him.

Nadia begins to suspect they are instructions.
Old photographs show two versions of her childhood. Municipal records contain names that should not exist. A forgotten ledger describes people who vanished from their own lives without ever leaving town.
Then Nadia meets another woman with her face.
She knows Nadia's family. She remembers Nadia's childhood. She knows things no stranger should know. And she believes Nadia is the one who stole her life.
With the Halloween Lantern Walk approaching, Nadia has until 10:17 p.m. to discover what happened to her family, her brother, and herself.
Because on this night, recognition has consequences.
