THIS BOOK BEGINS WITH A QUESTION
Something extraordinary is happening.

Photographs.
Military observations.
Civilian sightings.
Stories of beings.
Stories of recovered technology.
Stories of hidden programs.
Stories of extraordinary human technologies concealed behind classification.
And, surrounding all of them, stories about secrecy.
Some reports eventually received ordinary explanations.
Some claims collapsed when investigated.
Some were exaggerated.
Some were folklore.
Some were misunderstandings of classified human technology.
Some remain unresolved because the necessary evidence was never collected.
And a much smaller collection of allegations suggests possibilities considerably more extraordinary.
Recovered craft.
Non-human intelligence.
Advanced propulsion.
Unknown materials.
Secret aerospace programs.
Biological evidence.
Unconventional energy.
Interactions involving human consciousness.
Perhaps even questions about the nature of reality itself.
We will not begin this book by declaring those extraordinary propositions true.
Neither will we begin by declaring them impossible.
We begin by investigating.


THE DISCLOSURE PROBLEM
For decades, the UFO question occupied an uncomfortable territory between government secrecy, popular culture, scientific skepticism, legitimate military observations, intelligence operations, sincere eyewitness testimony, hoaxes, classified aerospace development, and genuine unexplained phenomena.
That situation has changed.
The language has changed.
"Flying saucers" became UFOs.
UFOs became UAPs.
Government offices were established.
Military personnel testified.
Congress held hearings.
Scientists entered the conversation.
Archives began opening.
Journalists investigated.
Whistleblowers emerged.
Pilots spoke publicly.
Former intelligence officials made extraordinary allegations.
Skeptics challenged those allegations.
Government investigators disputed some of them.
And the public discovered something extremely important:
The question itself was legitimate enough to investigate.
That does not mean every proposed answer is correct.
It means the investigation deserves to exist.
