For a decade, a "Renewal Initiative" backed by City Hall and a handful of ultra-wealthy developers has engineered rents, taxes, and fees to spike borough by borough -- not by accident, but by design, driving out millions of low-income residents to remake the five boroughs into a gated enclave for the rich. To keep them from coming back, an AI-controlled security network of drones and robotic checkpoints now rings every bridge, tunnel, and transit hub, scanning and turning away anyone who isn't verified, credentialed, or approved.
