At 2:17 p.m., a delivery truck is found idling across an empty rural road.

Newly assigned detective Helen Ward is told the explanation is obvious: Paul stepped out and met with trouble.

As Helen reconstructs Paul's final journey minute by minute, familiar landmarks become evidence. Witnesses revise their memories. Official records refuse to align. And every clue leads away from the roadside and toward an abandoned quarry, a burned house, and a secret the town has spent years protecting.

The truck was left exactly where someone wanted it found.
