Ian Vale used to be the "Static," a Root-Bottom tavern boy with a leaking mana pool who dreamed of escaping the slums. Now, he's a Level 131 Godslayer, a Chosen Archmage with the power to shape reality, a purified duchy to his name, and three fiercely powerful wives. He thought killing a Lesser God would finally earn him some peace.

He was wrong.

Winter has arrived, and demons are tearing through the fabric of Orodan, preparing for the "Great Rip" to bridge the Dark Continent with the mortal world. But the invading hordes aren't the only threat. The corrupt Ministry and the surviving Imperial Archmages have struck a cowardly bargain, sacrificing their own lower-tier citizens to the Void-Gods to protect their glittering capital.

Ian refuses to play by the Empire's rules. With his growing family to protect and his first child on the way, Ian is stepping out of the Sun-Crown's shadow to forge his own army. Gathering the dregs, cast-offs, and rejects of the Academy, he is building a Vanguard capable of fighting back. From the freezing, void-choked heights of the Skyshard Peaks to the crushing, abyssal depths of the Sapphire Sea, Ian and his units must evolve faster than the abyss itself.

The Empire is rotting from the inside out. The ancient, intelligent horrors beyond the Great Rip are waiting. If humanity is going to survive the apocalypse, the Archmage will have to tear down the old world to build a new one.
