The Birth of a Great Nation

How did one family become a great nation in the midst of slavery, suffering, and seemingly impossible circumstances?

In The Birth of a Great Nation: Exodus Part 1, Boksoon Kim explores how God's promises to Abraham and Jacob unfold in the opening chapters of Exodus. Through Scripture, personal reflections, and practical spiritual lessons, she traces the growth of the Israelites and the remarkable events that led to their departure from Egypt.

From the rescue of baby Moses and his years in Midian to the burning bush, his return to Egypt, and his confrontations with Pharaoh, this book considers how God prepares people for His purposes. The ten plagues reveal a struggle greater than a conflict between Moses and a king, while the Passover brings the themes of judgment, protection, and redemption into focus.

Kim connects these biblical accounts with experiences from her own life, inviting readers to reflect on faith during hardship, humility, obedience, prayer, and trust in God's timing. Her discussion of the Passover also explores its Christian significance, drawing connections between the blood of the lamb and salvation through Jesus Christ.

Written in a direct, personal style, this first volume focuses on how Jacob's family grew into a multitude and was brought out of bondage. Throughout the journey, Kim returns to a central conviction: human opposition cannot overturn God's purpose, and circumstances that appear hopeless may become part of His preparation.

For Christians seeking a reflective exploration of Exodus, this book offers an invitation to consider not only what happened to the Israelites, but what their story reveals about faith and dependence on God today.
