A Samurai Destiny

On the last day of the Falklands (Malvinas) war, a British officer checks the body of a dying Argentine officer in the field and discovers, to his amazement, that they have a personal bond regarding war: their fathers had been friends and brothers-in-arms during WWII.
This is the beginning of a saga encompassing three generations of Welsh immigrants to Argentina, their fate marked by war. Meredith Evans lands in Argentina after being a witness to most of the men in his family falling in WWI; he will meet a local creole woman who will help him put down his roots in this new land; however, through a strange cosmic joke, his son Gordon travels to Great Britain on a scholarship for his secondary schooling. Gordon, who received an education in Argentine traditions from his grandfather, goes through suffering and pain in his life as an expatriate, and on a youthful, rash impulse, he becomes a volunteer in the Spanish Civil War, facing the Nazi-Fascists. Defeated and deeply saddened by the death of his closest friends, the explosive start of WWII drags him far away from his intention to go back to his country - he will only return fifteen years later, after many battles and after travelling many kilometres.
Once back in Argentina he will grow and prosper, just as his grandfather would have wanted, and he starts a family with much love and hope.
But nothing turns out as he plans: his eldest son finds his vocation in a military career within the Argentine Army, and the stormy '70s decade then carries him beyond his idea of patriotism and honour.
