RECENT ADVANCES IN PROSTHODONTICS

Recent advances in prosthodontics have transformed dental rehabilitation through digital technology, advanced biomaterials, and minimally invasive procedures. CAD/CAM systems and 3D printing have improved the precision, efficiency, and fit of complete and removable dentures. Biofunctional Prosthetic Systems (BPS), thermoplastic resins, and nano-hybrid composite teeth provide better esthetics, durability, and patient comfort. In fixed prosthodontics, digital shade selection, zirconia ceramics, fiber-reinforced restorations, and advanced temporization materials have enhanced functional and esthetic outcomes. Laser technology is widely used for gingival retraction, tissue healing, and mucosal lesion management. Implant dentistry has progressed with hydrophilic implant surfaces, nanotechnology, biomimetic coatings, and guided surgery techniques that improve osseointegration and reduce healing time. Maxillofacial prosthetics have also advanced through stereolithography, laser sintering, and biocompatible silicone materials. Overall, these innovations have improved accuracy, comfort, esthetics, and long-term success in prosthodontic treatment.
