Jax Varn and Luma Vale are junior field critics for the Review Guild, an interdimensional bureaucracy that sends underpaid agents into broken fantasy worlds, rates their performance, and charges them penalties when the quest goes off script.
Jax has a sword, poor impulse control, and a dangerous habit of asking the obvious question too loudly. Luma has a map that sees the shape of things people are trying to hide. Their senior consultant is Sir Spoil, a tiny cursed bronze helmet with the patience of a tax auditor and the emotional warmth of a stapler.
