PURPOSE

From encounters with a rebel leader in Liberia to the haunting testimonies of war survivors in Sierra Leone, PURPOSE: A Memoir of Fearless Journalism, Diplomacy and Growth takes readers into an Africa where courage carries a personal cost.

Ghanaian journalist Jefferson Sackey recounts reporting journeys through countries scarred by conflict, confronting the human consequences of violence and the fragile promise of peace. Through the voices of amputees, former child soldiers and communities rebuilding their lives, he reveals stories that endure long after the headlines fade.

Beginning with his difficult childhood of the 80's and 90's the journey moves from the uncertainties of field reporting into the closely guarded world of diplomacy. Serving alongside Ghana's then Foreign Minister, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Sackey offers an insider's perspective on African diplomacy-from peace efforts in Côte d'Ivoire to engagements at the African Union and the United Nations, where national ambitions meet global interests.

Intimate, compelling and distinctly African, PURPOSE brings global readers close to the people behind defining public moments. It is a story of risk, responsibility and ambition-and one man's search for meaning while bearing witness to a continent shaping its own future.
