Practice to Mastery: AP® Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism Workbook is a calculus-based practice workbook for students taking AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism or a first college course in electricity and magnetism. It gives you the volume of practice this course demands, organized unit by unit, with a detailed worked solution for every question.
The six units follow the sequence of the AP course: charge, the electric field, and Gauss's law; electric potential and electrical energy; conductors, capacitance, and dielectrics; current, resistance, and DC circuits; magnetic forces and the fields of currents; and induction, Faraday's law, and inductance.
What's inside:
- 814 original multiple-choice questions across the six units, 124 to 150 per unit, arranged in labeled Easy, Medium, and Hard sets so you can build from the fundamentals to exam-level challenge.
- 36 free-response questions, six per unit, in all four current AP formats: Mathematical Routines, Translation Between Representations, Experimental Design and Analysis, and Qualitative/Quantitative Translation.
- A full-length practice exam that follows the current AP format: 42 multiple-choice questions in 85 minutes and 4 free-response questions in 95 minutes, each section worth half the score, with a score estimate.
- A detailed explanation for every multiple-choice question: the physical principle, the setup, every calculus step, the numbers with units, and a check of the result.
- Point-by-point scoring guides for every free-response question, with scoring notes, accepted numerical ranges, and a complete example response.
Real calculus, used the way the course uses it. Fields of continuous charge distributions are found by integration. Gauss's and Ampère's laws are applied to charge and current densities that vary with position. Potentials come from line integrals of the field. RC, LR, and LC circuits are analyzed through the differential equations they obey. The math is never reduced to plug-and-chug.
Questions that connect the units. Many medium and hard questions, and every free-response question, draw on two units at once: the field and the potential it implies, the capacitor and the circuit that charges it, the changing magnetic field and the current it drives. This is the kind of synthesis the exam rewards.
Laboratory skills built in. Two free-response questions in every unit are experimental design and data analysis tasks: choosing what to measure, linearizing data, drawing a best-fit line, and extracting a physical constant from the slope, with accepted ranges verified from the data.
Clear, consistent figures. Circuit schematics, field-line and equipotential diagrams, Gaussian surfaces, integration-element sketches, and data graphs are drawn in a clean black-and-white style.
Every question, figure, data set, and explanation was written for this book. The workbook pairs with the companion volume, Practice to Mastery: AP® Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism Practice Exams, which contains twelve additional full-length practice exams with no overlapping questions.
Whether you are working through the course during the year, reviewing a weak unit, or preparing for the exam in May, this workbook gives you the practice, the explanations, and the calculus fluency to master AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism.
