OF LIONS AND LAMBS

A cynical, intelligent, intense and misunderstood female Vancouver-based comic (Atti 'the Hun' Nichololius) who feels out of place on Earth through a series of 'accidents' is befriended by naïve, all-heart-no-brains New Age Iowan bible-thumper ('Johnboy' Smith) who sees said comic as his Spirit Helper, sent by Heavenly father from the Divine planets to teach him how to be a comic. A dramato-comedic cynic vs. believer tale that tests the value and worth of both perspectives, as Atti and Johnboy discover things about themselves, and their connection, they would not want to know, but must find out if they are to fulfill their Real Purpose in life. Making things both interesting and frustrating is Atti's relationship to her guilt-throwing, depression spreading traditional Greek mother and her dying yet internally Alive big A Greek Revolutionary father.

Produced and aired as a one hour prime time CBC TV dramady.

Of Lions and Lambs is a gritty, provocative, and darkly funny novel about two lost souls navigating the underbelly of modern life while unknowingly walking paths toward a higher purpose.

Atti "the Hun" Nichololias is a brilliant, battle-hardened comedienne fighting to survive on the fringes of the Vancouver comedy scene. Haunted by personal demons and societal apathy, her stage is her last stand against obscurity, and every joke is a shot fired in a war for meaning. Her audience doesn't know it-but they might be her final chance at redemption.

Meanwhile, John Smith, a painfully earnest farmboy-turned-street-preacher, lands in the city on what he believes is a divine mission. Guided by faith, folly, and a cosmic sense of timing, he's come to find his "Spirit Helper." What he doesn't know is that she's standing under a spotlight, telling dick jokes and dying on stage.

As their lives crash into each other, a bizarre and moving journey unfolds, filled with street prophets, cynical barkeepers, spectral figures, and the ever-looming presence of Mr. Reeper, a shadowy agent of fate watching it all unfold from a penthouse above the city.

M.J. Politis delivers a searing, funny, and spiritually charged tale that asks big questions in neon-lit alleys and dive bars. What does it mean to be saved? Who gets to lead, and who gets left behind? And can comedy be a sacrament when the church won't let you in?

Of Lions and Lambs is a fierce, genre-blending novel for readers who appreciate satire with soul, grit with grace, and stories that dare to walk the line between divine and deranged.
