HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY

There is something deeply stirring about picking up the story of Christianity and tracing it from its earliest days to the present hour. It is not simply an account of institutions, councils, and creeds - though those things matter. It is the story of men and women who believed something so extraordinary that they were willing to die for it, live radically for it, and pass it on to their children and grandchildren across thousands of years.
When I set out to write this book, I did not want to produce a cold academic survey. I wanted the reader to feel the heat of the Roman fires that burned the first believers. I wanted them to smell the ink on the pages of the early church fathers. I wanted them to hear the hammering of Luther's nail and the singing of Wesley's converts. History is never merely about the past. It is a living conversation between what God has done and what He is still doing.
Christianity did not simply appear and spread on its own strength. It was carried by the Holy Spirit through the frailty of human lives. Every reformation, every revival, every missionary journey was fueled by an encounter with the living God. That is the thread this book seeks to follow.
