This book examines the role of home states in the development of Islam in Western Europe, as well as the ways by which religion is used by home states to promote ties with their citizens and their descendants abroad. Focusing on interstate cooperation and the interests of home states in the governance of Islam in Western European countries, the author's research employs a comparative perspective that covers the two home states with the largest diaspora populations in Europe, Turkey and Morocco.
