Con razón se sintió atraído en sus últimos años Lorenzo Gomis (1924-2005) por una palabra tan estridente y colorida como fanfarria, porque con ella podía nombrar, como con ninguna otra, la médula profunda de su universo poético. Con tal vocablo tituló el libro que dejó concluido poco antes de morir, y que ahora, póstumamente, aquí se edita. Fanfarria, como podrá constatar el lector, reúne en sí algunas de las cualidades que Gomis persiguió siempre en sus poemas: sencillez, originalidad, sorpresa. Sobre todo, la originalidad, unida a una visión religiosa de la vida. Su poesía irrumpió en 1951, año del Premio Adonais concedido a su libro El caballo, y desde entonces mantuvo una línea que él mismo definió como de "fantasía cómica o humor fantástico", y que llega hasta El bostezo del león, libro con el que se cerraba el tomo de su Poesía completa, de 2002 (Universidad Popular José Hierro, San Sebastián de los Reyes). De este personalísimo estilo de Gomis, con su bullir de formas y figuras, participa con toda brillantez Fanfarria.
