Falconer

When Marcus Hawthorn dies, he leaves behind more than a grieving family and a magnificent Sussex estate. Hawthorn House is beautiful, beloved - and quietly running out of money.

Into this complicated world comes Captain Jack Falconer, a charismatic professional pilot more comfortable at 41,000 feet than dealing with family dramas, formidable women and the unexpected responsibilities of an English country estate.

As Jack is drawn closer to Leonora Hawthorn, a talented horsewoman fiercely determined to protect her family's home, it becomes clear that Hawthorn is attracting attention for reasons nobody fully understands. An abandoned wartime airstrip, long-forgotten papers and the ambitions of powerful commercial interests could change the estate forever.

But Hawthorn is far more than land and property. It is horses and Labradors, village gossip and old friendships, leaking roofs and unpaid bills, love affairs, family secrets - and a collection of wonderfully eccentric people who have no intention of surrendering it without a fight.

Moving between the Sussex countryside, private aviation and the glamour of the South of France, Falconer is a warm, witty and romantic story about love, legacy, family and belonging - and discovering that sometimes the place you never intended to stay becomes the one place you want to call home.
