ERESHKIGAL

Enter the ancient kingdom of Ereshkigal, sovereign Queen of the Dead

Beyond the seven gates of the Mesopotamian underworld stands a throne whose authority even the gods must respect. Discover the extraordinary mythology of Ereshkigal, Lady of the Great Earth, and the ancient civilization that recognized her dominion over the Land of No Return.

Through 21 richly developed chapters, Diana Aram explores the Sumerian origins of the underworld, its mysterious geography, divine court, sacred laws, and enduring religious traditions. Follow Inanna's perilous descent, the judgment of the Anunnaki, and the dramatic encounters between Ereshkigal and Nergal, where sovereignty, desire, and divine power collide.

Drawing upon ancient Mesopotamian traditions, this comprehensive exploration reveals the significance of funerary offerings, ancestral remembrance, forgotten sanctuaries, and the complex relationships connecting the living with the dead. Dedicated chapters also introduce contemporary invocations and carefully structured rites of passage inspired by the queen's mythology, distinguishing modern spiritual practices from historical religious customs.
