Dragon Squire

Perrin can count the Red Knight's riders. Finding a way to stop them is harder.

Sir Kelvin the Red is gathering an army, buying loyalty with coin and promises, and giving every village a reason to fear choosing the wrong side. Behind the walls of Wrenhold, a small band of defenders prepares for the men marching toward them. Perrin brings a talent for tools, a head for numbers, and a growing dragon who trusts him.

Haku can scatter horses, hold a road, and move timber that would take a dozen men to lift. With a siege approaching, everyone can see how useful a dragon might be. Perrin has made a promise about the fire: nobody burns. Keeping it becomes harder with every new demand.

As Kelvin's plans reach beyond a single castle, Perrin must help protect people who cannot simply fly away. Clever answers come easily to him. Knowing when to ask for help-and when a plan asks too much of his friend-is a lesson he is still learning.
