Digitalization and Cultural Transformation

Digital transformation is reshaping the functioning of institutions, public services, and economic systems, making the relationship between technological innovation, governance, and sustainability increasingly central. Within this framework, this volume brings together contributions that examine some of the key challenges posed by digitalization in contemporary contexts, with particular attention to public administration, healthcare, decision-making processes, and innovation systems. The contributions address a range of distinct yet interconnected themes, including the digitalization of public services, artificial intelligence, sustainability, healthcare logistics, organizational transformation, innovation capacity, and territorial development. The book combines theoretical reflections, regulatory analyses, empirical studies, and systematic literature reviews, offering an interdisciplinary perspective on the transformations currently underway.

Particular attention is devoted to the Italian and European contexts, highlighting both the opportunities offered by digital technologies and the critical issues that remain unresolved, such as territorial inequalities, skills gaps, infrastructural limitations, and the capacity of institutions to govern increasingly rapid processes of change.

Taken together, this book provides a comprehensive reflection on how digitalization is affecting organizations, public policies, and governance models, emphasizing the need for approaches capable of integrating technological innovation with sustainability and social considerations.
