La Corte y las Casas Reales resultaron fundamentales en la organización política de las Monarquías modernas. Sin duda, Borgońa resultó de especial relevancia en la gestación de dicho proceso, pues su Casa Ducal adquirió una perfección reconocida por el resto de monarquías del momento. Dicho servicio a la borgońona llegó a la Monarquía Hispana a través de Felipe I, consiguiendo imponerse a las Casas menos desarrolladas de Aragón y Castilla y convirtiéndose en la Casa de una Monarquía Universal. El presente libro pretende situar a la Casa de Borgońa de los Habsburgo hispanos en el papel nuclear que tuvo en la gestación de la Monarquía Hispánica. Al mismo tiempo, nos permite ser conscientes de que el estudio de la Historia Moderna no se ha agotado, ante la necesidad de explicar la historia de las Monarquías modernas europeas a través del análisis de la Corte y las Casas Reales. Courts and royal households played a crucial role in the development of the political organization of early modern monarchies. The Duchy of Burgundy was the first to establish a highly sophisticated household that approximated perfection at the organizational level, and for this reason was recognised by contemporary monarchies. Philip I introduced this so called 'Burgundian household' at the court of Castile. Soon it managed to reinforce its preeminence over other less developed households of the Spanish monarchy, such as those of Aragon and Castile, and it became the sole household of the Universal Monarchy.
