Antimicrobial and antidiarrheal fixed dose combinations enlisted in Indian Drug Review 2017 and 2018 were analysed by using a prevalidated tool. Each FDC was assessed for number of active pharmaceutical ingredients, approved by DCGI, Ingreadient banned or controversial , safety and efficacy of each ingredient , listing in WHO, EML or NLEM, and pharmacokinetic , pharmacodynamic interactions and advantages of each FDC were analyzed by evidence based literature search. Each criteria scored one for positive minus one or zero for negative or on favorable observation. The score for rational FDC was 7 and for irrational FDC the score was 7 from the observation. As well as there were total 181 prescriptions wee collected and evaluated.Rationality assessment of antimicrobial and antidiarrheal FDCs reveals that a number of these FDCs in Indian market are irrational. From the study we come to know that there are lots of fixed dose combinations are available in Indian market from them few were evaluate by our study but only 45 % antimicrobial fixed dose combinations and 27 % antidiarrheal fixed dose combinations were rational.
