This Book shows how Bio-inspired design or biomimetics is a promising approach for the development of innovative technical products - not only in mechanical engineering but also in areas such as material science and even computer engineering. Recently developed products such as the diving robot Snookie with a bio-inspired orientation system have shown the potential of bio-inspired design. Moreover, no book on bio-inspired design integrates processes, methods and tools into applicable procedures for engineers and biologists in practice.
