A Bad Girl's Rules For A Beary Merry Christmas

For the first time since I left for college, I'm coming home for Christmas.
Too bad I'm jobless and broke.

On the bright side, it'll be good to see all my family in one place again. I know they'll welcome me with my metaphorical tail between my legs.
Even if I don't actually have a tail. Or magic. Or any other supernatural gifts.

Being a human among paranormals is exciting, until you realize how powerless you are and they treat you as if you're made of glass.

Speaking of which...

Dakota and Kyle-the bear shifter brothers I grew up with.

They are both handsome, loud, and obnoxious.
And just as possessive as every other supernatural I've ever met.

Especially him.

Dakota stole my heart years ago, and I barely survived the aftermath.

I'm grown enough now to see him again without stirring up all those old feelings. I've got a degree, life experience, and the maturity to know what I want. I don't belong in his world. He'd never come to mine. It couldn't work out between us.

So why does the sight of him rushing to help in a snowstorm bring me right back to the girl who wished she was good enough to stay?

I'm not the same woman that left here years ago. I've got nothing left to lose.
It's one Christmas.
No strings.
No tinsel to tie me down.
One week of frolicking in the past and then I'll put myself back onto Santa's good list.

After everything I went through, maybe it won't hurt to be a little naughty this year.

I did it once. I'm sure I'll be able to leave this small, supernatural town again.
But this time, I won't let them break my fragile human heart when I go.
