This antique book contains a comprehensive and practical guide to sheet and plate metal work, written for the use and edification of boilermakers, braziers, coppersmiths, ironworkers, plumbers, sheet metalworkers, tinsmiths, whitesmiths, zincworkers, and others. Within this book the patterns shown are set out as they would be in the workshop, with hints as to allowances for joints, wiring, and notches, bending up, use of tools, and so on. Nearly all the patterns have been tested by the author himself or under his supervision, and a careful study of this book will enable the mechanic to become a more expert craftsman, as well as teaching them the art of cutting up metal economically. The chapters of this book include: 'Elbows for Round Pipes', 'Tee-Pieces for Round Pipes', 'Pipe Bends in Segments', 'Tapered Pipe Elbows and Three-Way Pieces', 'Square Pipe Elbows and Tee-Pieces', 'Hoods', 'Flat-Sided Tapered Articles', 'Pan Corners', 'Conical Articles of Short Taper', etcetera. This text was originally published in 1908, and we are proud to republish it now complete with a new introduction on the subject.
